Spot PlayEXPECTING CASH (#2, 7-5): OK, OK, so yes, he’ll be chalky, but he’s a reliable single in the multi’s to start off the day right. The only other logical horse is Strong Resolve, and he’ll take money as a two-time winner here in the fall – but his lack of recency just has to hurt his chances. Conversely, Expecting Cash has the recency and the class to overwhelm these. Back with confidence. – Marty McGee

Spot PlayXAVERIAN (#7, 7-2): With that very useful first start at Gulfstream under his belt, this Mott trainee finds a decent spot to show marked improvement over what was a decent effort anyway, all things considered. Winner of that March 1 race (Woodfield Springs) acquitted himself well in the Transy here Friday; adds Rosario, which never hurts. – Marty McGee

Spot PlayLooking for a rebound from BOCELLI (#8, 5-1), who chased a quick pace in his first start off the layoff; using him with LATE NIGHT LU (#5, 3-1), who figures to be running late. -Kenny Peck
Vulnerable FavoriteFRANKLIN (#4, 5-2) shows up in a straight maiden race Sunday after being entered and favored in a maiden $50,000 race Saturday; view the change in spots as a negative for a horse that is favored; the trainer’s initial feeling was to start him for a tag. – Byron King Closer Looks >> |

Spot PlayBergman (#8, 4-1) had an unproductive winter in New Orleans but is a Poly specialist and his connections show confidence in him by sending him north to Kentucky, rather than race him at the trainer’s primary base at Evangeline on dirt or turf; Desormeaux brothers team up. – Byron King
