Spot PlayKERRY WASHINGTON (#8, 10-1) Slight class-drop could be key for this cleverly named (for the actress in “Scandal,” if you get that) colt, especially in light of getting the needed race over the Poly surface. Can’t ever discount HOF jock and his main man, Hess, especially in a race this wide-open; figures to improve over that 4/9 outing when he got the rail shuffle and probably was a tad overmatched anyway. – Marty McGee Closer Looks >> |

Vulnerable FavoriteQUIETDETERMINATION (#11, 5-2) is unproven at this distance as well as over this surface; high-percentage new barn will mean an underlaid price under the circumstances. -Kenny Peck Closer Looks >> |

Spot PlayFIFTY SHADES (#7, 5-1) has some tactical speed and a decent closing kick; return try was okay, but he may not have cared for that sloppy strip. -Kenny Peck |

Spot PlayCHAT (#7, 7-2) Scratched from a similar spot over the weekend, this nicely bred Dynaformer filly has been working up a storm on the Kee surface, and you know she’s got plenty of “bottom” with HOF’er Sheppard calling the shots. Was 6-1 M/L from the outer post in that last one, and the lower M/L here suggests she found a lighter spot with a better draw; first Lasix and Rosie help her cause. – Marty McGee Closer Looks >> |
