Keeneland donates $862,000

Keeneland gave $862,000 to more than 80 charitable organizations in 2004, the company announced Tuesday.

Keeneland's partnership with the Maker's Mark distillery resulted in the largest single grant, a $200,000 contribution for the Maker's Mark Secretariat Center, a retraining and adoption program for retired Thoroughbred racehorses located at the Kentucky Horse Park.

Another award of $100,000 was given to the University of Kentucky, and $59,000 went to other colleges and universities for their scholarship programs.
