Keeneland: Closer Looks for October 6, 2013

webmaster|Oct 05, 2013

Race 1

Sergush
Flashed only brief speed thus far and although dropping from special weights, cannot be endorsed today; the sire won multiple G1s and 698K while the dam won 7 of 33 starts and 398K; among the winning siblings is 190K earner Auteur.
Ry's the Man
Broke slowly under apprentice handling and switches to a journeyman rider now; his sire won a G1 and 804K; the dam never made it to the races; this is her only foal to compete; can upgrade at a decent price.
Salute the L T J G
Adds blinkers after failing to fire over the mud at Saratoga; unlucky colt shows some improvement to the workout pattern during the last month and this trainer/jockey team has scored with several longshots; consider.
Wild N Crazy
Sired by G1 type Offlee Wild, a G1 victor who netted 976K and whose progeny have scored in 22 out of 190 initial starts; the dam won 2 of 8 and 22K; winning siblings include 143K earner Young Emotions.
Hurricaner
See Ry's the Man, above for information about the same sire; the dam won 3 of 12 and 121K; sib to 88K earner Hawk Three O Eighth; this colt drilled a solid five-eighths recently after being involved in a key race in his maiden voyage.
B and B's Pulpit
Fair set of a.m. moves for this beginner, son of G1 type Brahms who earned a total of 843K (his descendants have won 8 percent of their debuts); the dam won 2 of 17 and 27K; this is her sole foal to start.
Ichiban Warrior
Jammed up between rivals in his grass debut, he can improve dramatically with the switch in surfaces and equipment change; his sire won multiple G1s and 915K; the dam was zero for 3; winning sibs include 37K earner Flatter Flirt.
Commander Luke
Up a notch or 2 after a fine placing at Churchill a month ago; moves off the fence for the first time in a while and that can help even further; might fly under the betting radar once again and is worth some inclusion in your exotic wagering plans.
Nice Way
Respectable showing at Presque Isle recently; he tries fifth different rider in as many starts, however, not the best of signs; remains a very difficult runner to pinpoint; a wait and see betting approach is suggested.
More Than Classic
Although trying the main oval for the first time, he could be the primary pacesetter today; his sire is G1 sprinter More Than Ready who captured 1.02 million; the dam was without a victory in 2 attempts; this is her only foal to start; playable.

Race 3

Slew City Pleasure

Brad's Ruby
20K shrt yrlng, 50K 2yo after 1F work 10.3; sire G3 SW sprinter (354K, 1-2 at 2, 1-14 with 2yo); dam 2yo SW sprinter (106K) with 0 wnrs/4 rnrs (0-2 with 2yos, 0-3 sprinters); family multiple 2yo SW sprinter Tempered Halo (277K); barn 17%, $3.64 pst 5 yrs dirt-synth (no 2yos); chased next-out G3 winner in fast heat; exotics factor.
Baby Lis
1/2 multiple G1 route SW Plum Pretty (1.6M, 1-1 at 2, 1-2 sprint) by 18% 2yo sire; unplaced dam (0-1 sprint) has 2 wnrs/5 rnrs (2-3 with 2yos, 2-5 sprinters); dam 1/2 multiple 2yo sprint SW Gold Case (60K); barn 7%, $0.34 pst 5 yrs dirt-synth (0-8 with 2yos); dismissed at long odds for debut and only passed tired horses; prefer others.
Ready Player One
155K weanling, 200K yearling; sire 46-401 (11%) 2yo FTS; 1st starter from multiple SW dam (425K, 2-5 at 2, 2-7 sprint); dam full multiple turf SP Victoire Bataille (236K, 1-2 sprint), multiple SW Turfiste (241K, 1-6 at 2, 6-21 sprint); barn 3-21 (14%, $4.60 ROI) past 5 years 2yo FTS MSW synthetic sprint Keeneland; interesting.
Union Prayer
Sire 16% 2yos; SP dam (78K, 1-2 sprint) has 0 wnrs/1 rnr (0-1 with 2yos); dam 1/2 SW Grand Prayer (145K, 0-2 at 2, 1-8 sprint), G1 sprint SW Swagger Jack (460K); dam full G3 SW Tap Dance (378K, 1-5 at 2, 2-3 sprint); barn 11-40 (28%, $2.61 ROI) past 5 years turf-synthetic (1-4 with 2yos); off slow and was 3-4 wide throughout in solid debut; capable.
Tepin
Full G2 route SP Prime Cut (167K, 1-2 at 2, 1-3 sprint); 1/2 G2 route SW Vyjack (552K, 2-2 at 2, 2-2 sprint) by 16% 2yo sire; unraced dam has 3 wnrs/4 rnrs (3-4 with 2yos, 3-4 sprint); barn 3-11, $1.24 pst 5 yrs 2nd-out 2yo dirt-synth sprint; battled 3W and finished ahead of next-out 78-Beyer grad Jubilant Vision; expect speed; respect.

Race 4

Afortable
Fort Prado is off to a good start as a turf sire and this colt is a 1/2 to Multiple stakes winners over turf Suntracer and Corrupt, as well as multiple graded stakes winner over turf Free fighter, and G3 winner over turf Leading Astray; he commands his share of respect while showing up for a sharp turf barn.
Here's Johnny
He hasn't run a bad race to date and he's a 1/2 to minor stakes winner Glitter City (5-18, 207k, including 2 of 6 turf starts for 51k); stakes placed colt is stretching out in distance but he has a live look to him in this spot.
Belly of the Whale
Red Giant has been a poor influence as a turf sire but this colt didn't let that hinder him in an impressive career debut; he has a distance leaning pedigree, so not going to be surprised if he runs well while making his first start routing.
Sweet Daddy
He finished behind today's rival Here's Johnny in his latest start, but this lightly raced colt is still plenty eligible to have more to show us, and it wouldn't be any surprise if this top turf barn has him geared up for a sharper run this time around.
El Bongo
His one start over turf was a winning performance but he's going to need to be ready to step it up over that performance if he's planning on putting any pressure on the top contenders in this spot.
Son of Sparta
Sire wins with approximately 15% of his turf starters and dam was winless from two starts; this colt is a 1/2 to stakes placed Evan's Calling (1-10, 54k over turf); he's tough to back against these in his turf debut based on what he's shown so far.
Heart to Heart
Sire wins with approximately 17% of his turf starters and dam won once from 10 starts for 8k, including 1 of 3 turf starts for 6k; he nearly earned a stakes win two back and the third place finisher from his latest race returned to win next out at Wo on 9/22 going 1 1/16m vs. MSW rivals with a 67 Beyer.
Gone Mountain
He brings some early speed with him and it's interesting to see the presence of Lanerie aboard this colt, but he's going to need to show up with his best effort to date to prove to be a player in this spot.
La Mejor Fiesta
Like what she did in her first two career starts, but she didn't run well after a layoff in her latest outing and now she's meeting up with boys; this barn is tough to ignore with their Keeneland starters, but prefer to lean in another direction.

Race 5

Mader Bythe Minute
Sire 20-127 (16%) 2yo FTS; dam won route (64K, 1-9 at 2, 0-13 sprint) with 1 winner from 4 runners (0-3 with 2yos, 1-3 with sprinters); female family SW Mr. Murtaugh (238K, 1-1 at 2, 5-18 sprint); barn 1-46 (2%, $1.33 ROI) past 5 years; faltered after midrace bid on turf, but hasn't shown much spark; minor award could be her ceiling.
Bella Veloce
25K yrlng, 32K RNA 2yo after 1F work 10.1; sire G1 sprint SW (669K, 0-1 at 2, 3-23 with 2yo FTS); dam 2yo SW (357K 1-9 sprint) with 2 wnrs/3 rnrs (2-3 with 2yos, 1 FTS wnnr, 1-1 sprinter); dam 1/2 SW 2yo sprinter The Golden Noodle (144K); barn 1-21, $6.05 pst 5 yrs 2yo FTS (0-1 synth); 9/4 work matches Honored (6th FTS MSW 9/22 CD 39 Beyer)
Zen Lava
Sire multiple G1 sprint SW (669K, 0-1 at 2, 6-44 with 2yos); 1st starter from winning dam (134K, 0-1 at 2, 1-10 sprint); dam 1/2 multiple turf SW August Storm (189K, 3-4 at 2, 0-1 sprint); barn 2-15, $8.73 pst 5 yrs turf-synth (0-1 with 2yos); broke well 9/11, but opted to track outside; finished evenly without threatening; perhaps more speed? not out of it.
Piper Jade
1/2 turf SW 2yo Steaming Home (73K, 0-7 sprint) by 15% 2yo FTS sire; unplaced dam (0-1 sprint) has 4 wnrs/10 rnrs (1-7 with 2yos, 2-5 sprinters); dam 1/2 G1 route SW Corporate Report (1.0M, 2-2 sprint); barn 2-35, $0.80 pst 5 yrs 2yo FTS synthetic MSW sprint Keeneland; 9/24, 9/30 works match Primmensity (FTS Fri R1)
Flashy Dimontina
Sire 7-75 (9%) 2yo FTS; dam G3 SP sprinter (184K, 1-4 at 2, 3-24 sprint) with 3 winners from 7 runners (0-2 with 2yos, 2-7 with sprinters); dam 1/2 G1 turf SW Perfect Soul (1.5M); barn 2-11 (18%, $3.49 ROI) past 5 years FTS synthetic (0-6 with 2yos).
Please Explain
75K RNA yrlng; 1/2 SP router Nicklaus Way (102K, 0-2 at 2, 2-2 sprint) by 13% 2yo sire; unraced dam has 2 wnrs/3 rnrs (0-3 with 2yos, 1-3 sprinters); dam 1/2 multiple G1 route SW Borrego (2.0M, 2-4 at 2); barn 9-34, $3.36 dirt-synth (3-4 with 2yos); far back early after awkward start, she came with a good late run to just miss over 2 next-out winners; respect.
Super Sky
80K yrlng, 235K 2yo after 1F work 10.1; 1/2 turf SW Dyna's Lassie (182K, 0-1 at 2), route SW Princess Arabella (188K, 1-1 at 2, 2-2 sprint) by 18% 2yo sire; dam sprint winner (6K) with 6 wnrs/7 rnrs (3-5 with 2yos, 3-5 sprint); barn 1-15, $0.55 pst 5 yrs 2yos turf-synth; ran well despite poor start 7/22; repelled 2 challenges before tiring last time; solid.
Hunting Hill
Sire 14% 2yos; 2yo SW dam (318K, 1-1 sprint) has 3 wnrs/4 rnrs (3-4 with 2yos, 0-2 sprinters); 3rd dam SW Shawnee Creek; family G1 SW North Sider (1.1M, 4-9 sprint); barn 4-10, $3.28 pst 5 yrs 2yos dirt-synth sprints; well behind Zen Lava in debut; according to 10/1 KEE Clocker Report, she "was well reserved, held the edge on Julies Jewelry"
Light Striker
37K RNA wnlng, 19K RNA yrlng, 80K 2yo after 2F work 21.3; 1/2 SW Lacie Slew (259K, 0-2 at 2, 2-9 sprint) by 10% 2yo sire; multiple SW dam (314K, 7-12 sprint) has 5 wnrs/6 rnrs (0-4 with 2yos, 5-6 sprinters); barn 3-12, $2.68 pst 5 yrs 2yos dirt-synth; 2nd best 9/14 after being held up behind slow pace and was in behind horses on turn; capable.
Paloma P
105K RNA yearling; sire 8-82 (10%) 2yo FTS; 1st starter from winning dam (165K, 4-25 sprint); dam 1/2 turf SP Yippety Yip (231K, 1-2 at 2, 0-1 sprint); barn 1-34 (3%, $0.58 ROI) synthetic (0-7 with 2yos).

Race 6

Dynagreen
She improved a bit and was inching toward the winner late; 3 for 14 dam earned over $100K, was turf only; the sibling that won once did it on grass; back to the original pilot; could improve here.
Defoe Street
Far back the other time here, she took the overland route in last just missing; 6th finisher in last took a MSW next out and the winner repeated in an N1X with an 80 Beyer; connections would like to see this miss mature like top kin Port Royal, an over $250K earner; overdue.
Ruud Grrl
Needs a turn around after a pair of dull ones; dam 0 for 10; the sib to win took 2 sprints, banked less than a grand a start; looking elsewhere for a key top horse.
Grit and Grace
Wraps re-added last time to no avail, spotty race record is a bit of a concern; lone half bro won once, in second start sprinting at 2; she kind of runs the same race every time; must pick it up.
Distorted Music
She has the very solid Chicago prep under her belt; she also got a boost when the winner of the bow repeated in a $30K optional with a 76 Beyer; dam was unraced; lone kin to race took juvenile debut at SAR in a MSW with a 74 Beyer; this gal looks live.
Prayer Bell
Pulpit about 12% with first-timers in a 608-runner sample; sire won debut at 3 by over 7, won 3 of next 4 including the Fountain of Youth and Blue Grass; sprint only dam 6 for 13, earned nearly $250K; lone sibling to race cashed once sprinting; trained steadily for clever barn.
Fioretti
Improved big time on the stretch out and note she was 8 clear in the process; 2 for 10 dam was turn only, banked over $100K; this is her first to race; just may make third time the charm.
Moon Angel
Malibu Moon about 14% with first-timersin a 703-runner sample; sire graduated in second start at 2 at 5 furlongs on dirt for only win in 2-race career; dam was unraced; several multiple race winners in the family including juvenile debut winner and over $300K earner Wacky Patty; note gap in published drills till 9/20.
Marvelous Marcy
Grinder will need things to break just right but the place horse two back returned to beat Fioretti; the hotter the pace the better for this long-fused runner.
Batiana
Off poorly to kick it off, then hooked the daylighter; 4 for 23 dam was turf only, banked nearly $150K; 2 of 3 siblings won including route winner and over $160K earner War Kill; would lean toward watching a local outing.
Curls for Girls
Well clear of the rest last time and tab the solid drill on the 17th; dam was unraced; several multiple race winners in the tree including triple route winner and near $700K earner Easyfromthegitgo; the one to beat.
Not Be Forgotten
Would expect her to be more involved early on the stretch out; precocious dam won routing, earned about $60K; family includes successful router and $600K player Unforgotten and pure sprinter and near $850K earner Hot Storm; has to hurry.

Race 7

School On a Hill
Purchased by shrewd connections following win over 2 next-out grads, but never got involved when facing impressive filly debuter My Conquestadory in the Summer (she runs Friday); Catalano put Lasix on 2yo Animal Kingdom at Keeneland in 2010 and the colt responded by graduating; late runner should get some pace, but may fit best on bottom of exotics.
Tiger Bourbon
Handled Bashart and next-out 100K turf SW General Jack in solid debut and ran into a sharp speedster (set course record) most recently; although he only finished evenly in lone route, he's bred to handle this distance (1/2 to 8F SW War Tigress by Derby and Preakness winner); may work out a pace-tracking, ground-saving trip; prefer underneath.
All Cash
Maiden is placed in an ambitious spot by Lukas; showed solid early speed in all 3 starts only to falter when the real racing began; not sure he's fast enough to grab the early advantage with some other quick ones entered to his outside and he's taking a huge class hike; finished ahead of next-out 75-Beyer winner 8/24, but prefer others.
Solar Flair
Sire 5-43 (12%) 1st-turf; sprint-placed dam went 0-4 on turf and is 0-1 with her turf progeny; Illinois-bred gets the toughest test of his career from a class and distance standpoint; has enough speed to be forwardly-placed, but there are lots of questions to answer.
Bashart
Hasn't been stopped since stretching out around two turns; took them gate-to-wire in the With Anticipation, but don't like that he hopped back to his left lead in midstretch and the turf courses at Saratoga played to speed later in the meet; still, this colt has shown versatility and may be in a good spot just off the leaders; he's a logical contender, but demand value.
Manaus
Already multiple stakes-placed, this colt knocked down the door in fast time at KD. Pressed the pace outside and drew clear once given his cue; don't think he beat much, however, as Valdinas Will, the pacesetter and beaten in upper stretch, held the rest off for 2nd; there are some distance questions, but has been nothing if not consistent; interesting at a price.
Boji Moon
Hasn't taken a deep breath just yet and like that he has gradually stepped up in distance without problem; sat off the leader in turf debut before blowing that one's doors off with eye-catching acceleration; gets his 1st big test from a class and distance perspective, but the dam won at the trip; may be fast enough to make the lead and must be respected.
Bon Accord
He was 46-1 in the Calder Dash, but it's possible this son of Showing Up is a new horse on the green; he did get a good trip tracking the leaders inside and secured a seam when easing out in upper stretch; runner-up returned to win on dirt at GP, but only with a 57 Beyer; connections are asking a lot by stretching him out 3.5F; not the worst longshot stab.
Oogeley Eye
Sire 6% 1st-turf; 1st starter from 1st-turf winner (31K, 1-6 turf); 2nd dam multiple turf SW Mingling Glances (410K, 2-2 at 2); chased a promising winner and rallied nicely along the rail late; according to 9/28 KEE Clocker Report, he "went well, in company with Eirigh and was slightly better"; 2yo Eirigh has 46 turf Beyer; in tough here.
Poker Player
This colt doesn't have much speed and could be at the mercy of race and pace luck; it looked like there was no way he could win when the field turned into the long stretch at KD as he was so far back, but he came with a strong run to get up despite lugging in; needs a Beyer boost against these tougher foes.
Whyruawesome
Sire 7% 1st-turf; winning dam went 0-3 on turf and is 0-2 with turf progeny; 2nd best behind promising Solitary Ranger (entered Sat); cruised up along inside on turn and eased out to take shot at the winner turning for home, but raced a bit greenly and was rebuffed; won debut in swift time over All of Us (next-out 71-Beyer grad at SA); capable with a late bid.
Medal Count
Sire 14% 1st-turf; G3 SP dam (216K, 2-7 turf, 1st-turf winner) has 0 turf winners from 2 turf starters; looked pretty good overcoming some adversity to win, but it doesn't look like he beat the strongest field and the race came back pretty slow; has upside and gets pace to attack, but steps way up in class and may be in a bit steep.
Culprit
Sire 15% 1st-turf; unplaced dam (6K, 0-5 turf) has 0 turf winners from 2 turf runners; dam full Grade 3 SW Crowd Pleaser (605K, 2-4 at 2, 6-16 turf); got good learning debut on dirt; broke in slightly and raced in and among horses early; caught in tight upper stretch, but finished evenly and galloped out well once clear; tough spot against winners.

Race 8

Open Water
Gets back to synthetic footing after showing little on either Saratoga surface, most recently against the best older mare in the country; gal who beat her out West returns in this spot as well, but maybe the pace is a little more to this one's liking today; still, in her current form she'll need to take a big step forward to get in the mix with these.
Hard to Resist
Ships in from California after failing to last through moderate splits in the restricted Del Mar stake; mare earned each of her 3 wins on the green and she doesn't find the winner's circle very often; encouraging to see them bring her here for this tough test, but don't know that she'll be up to the task today.
Sisterly Love
Lightly raced 5 year old got necked at the wire when odds on in her Woodbine finale and now she'll try G1 types in her local debut; she's yet to go this far and she's clearly better when allowed to have things her own way but she does figure to be in the thick of this from the bell; contender.
Closing Range
She's another shipping in from California and she'll be making her synthetic debut in this spot; filly hasn't shown much early foot since trying slightly shorter trips of late; she has been working well over the local main track and the price does figure to be right, but a minor award appears to be her ceiling.
Emollient
Returns to the scene of her most impressive score when a runaway winner of the G1 Ashland here in the spring; sophomore will tackle older for the first time after getting caught behind a slow clip in Belmont's G1 Garden City, but maybe the return to synthetic footing and and honest clip help to move her up; worth a look.
Byrama (GB)
Proved little match for one of the top older runners in training when trying the boys at Del Mar last time and now she's back in with her own kind; G1 SW at this 9 panel trip just missed in her local sprint try here this spring and she has been working well on dirt out West for the cut back to this trip; she'll pick up some weight here but must be considered.
Wine Princess
She's a consistent check earner in the stakes ranks and possesses a decent turn of tactical foot; filly's lone poor main track effort did come at this 9 panel trip and she's yet to try synthetic footing, but her work here last weekend put to rest any question as to whether or not she'll handle this surface; can't count her out second time in shades.
Sisterhood
Beaten last out chalk on the Kentucky Downs turf gets back to synthetic footing over which she ran well in the stakes ranks here in the spring; barn does a nice job on the surface switch and this filly clearly likes it here, but don't know that she's good enough to threaten for the big prize in this spot.
Summer Applause
Beat a few overmatched rivals at odds on over the Monmouth dirt last time and now she'll get back to synthetic footing for the first time since her maiden score North of the border; filly has been able to track slow clips in her last handful of starts but may find herself a little further out of it early in this one; gal who beat her handily at Oaklawn this spring returns in this spot as well; prefer to limit her use to underneath in exotics in this deeper field.
Hard Not to Like
Wasn't beaten much behind a subsequent G1 SW turfer on the Saratoga lawn last time and now she'll return to the scene of her G1 Ashland placing as a sophomore; maybe she'll get a little better clip to chase this time and the price should be ok, but 9 panels has been a bit of a question for her.
On Fire Baby
Outside drawn gray tried Royal Delta at Saratoga and didn't have much to offer late while returning from nearly 4 months on the shelf in that one; expecting she'll be better with that one behind her and she was quite good in graded stakes routes on dirt prior to the comebacker; set a pressured clip from the outside slot in her lone synthetic try as a juvenile in the local G1 Alcibiades; figures to take money but it looks like they'll have her to beat.

Race 9

Miss Scout
Is listed as the 3-1 morning-line odds favorite Saturday in a 65K-IND stakes; graduated over that IND turf course in July and is stakes-placed there; stalked the speed in last like her win but came up empty in deep stretch; if races here it marks the 1st time in a non-stakes since the maiden breaker.
Kimberly Jean
Going on 6 months away since latest loss; has been unable to fire back to her 3-back runner-up finish on dirt a field-best Beyer when chasing the winner who repeated in an AQU-Grade 2 with an 88 Beyer; latest when favored on KEE synthetic saw the winner repeat to make it 3-for-3 in a DEL alw. with a 76 speed figure.
Abbey Street
Posted a career-best Beyer rallying strongly to graduate on CD grass at today's distance; her KEE turf race going this far in April saw the winner and show finishers Beyer 83-72 in next-out CD-MSW and AP-allowance wins; the 2-back winner repeated with an 88 Beyer taking a SAR Grade 2.
Pressthehardways
The winner and 5th-place finishers from last Beyered 67-65 in next-out MNR-10K-claiming and optional-claiming wins; beat the 2-back runner-up finisher who Beyered 59 in her next-out MNR alw. win; has never raced this far of a distance but off latest the added yaradge can help the cause; would need a major Beyer boost to upset in her 1st-KEE green attempt.
Sandsarita
Another runner who displayed a good Beyer in the maiden victory but has since then has shown nothing with winners; the 2-back victor repeated in an AP-Grade 3 with a 95 Beyer; 1st-KEE turf test today noting she rallied well in some2012 starts at today's distance on the green.
Phonybooksnrecords
Trailed throughout when ambitiously placed vs. Grade 3 rivals in her 1st start facing winners; 2-back victory was at today's distance when stalking the speed but in last showed zero gate speed; breezed a bullet on dirt for this racing for an 0-for-12 jockey-trainer combo since 2012.
Keening
Speedster just missed in the grass debut and now the race looks even better since beating the show finisher who posted an 87 Beyer in her next-out BEL alw. win; beat the 3-back runner-up finisher a next-out 72 Beyer IND-MSW graduate.
Can't Catch Kate
Graduated 1st time in the new barn going gate to wire but has Keening to deal with from the bell for this; new runner in last when blinkers were added for the 1st time; the breeze for this did not break any stopwatches but the 30%-winning jockey-trainer combo since 2012 adds to the appeal; view as a major pace presence.
Kitten's Queen
Exits her lowest Beyer since February when her strong rally never really materialized; 0-for-7 record since the debut win on CD grass at shorter; April's KEE turf race traveling today's distance saw the winner repeat in a PIM-100K event with an 84 speed figure.
Sense to Compete
All 3 starts have been solid performances including the debut-synthetic-key race win beating the runner-up and show finishers who Beyered 69-61 in next-out PID-MSW diploma earners; she did not workout like it would appear she would be ready for a top effort but the 20% win barn off the 38-day break is a plus.
Kipling's Joy
Favored loss in last when tiring at shorter than this; owns her career-best 3-back at today's distance when defeated by the winner and runner-up finishers who Beyered 86-80 in next-out AP-DMR-optional-claiming wins; the 2-back runner-up finisher scored next-out in a KD alw. with an 80 speed figure.
Bluegrass Sapphire
Have to go back to May, 2012, to see a bad race on her form; posted a career-best Beyer in her only other KEE turf test at today's distance where she defeated the show runner who Beyered 78 in a next-out CD-MSW win; needed last off the long layoff and should be set for a bigger race today.
Warm Breeze
3-for-6 trainer with-1st grass runners since 2012 adds to the appeal; her sire is 14-for-92 with 1st-turf starters; dam did not race on grass; she produced 1 lawn winner from 1 foal to attempt turf Mint Slewlep (1-for-7 grass, 44K); the 2-back winner repeated in an ELP-optional claimer with a 79 Beyer.
Holiday Drama
Did not appear like she wanted to go this far in latest fade at longer; unable to handle Sandsarita 3 back 1st time on turf when losing ground from stretch to finish; lone win was 1st blinkers where she posted a new Beyer Top showing improved gate speed.
