Keeneland catalogs record number in November sale

A record 5,415 horses have been cataloged for the Keeneland November breeding stock sale, scheduled for 15 days beginning Nov. 5, according to the sales company.

The total comprises 2,684 broodmares, 2,323 weanlings, 403 horses of racing age, 4 stallions, and 1 breeding right, according to Keeneland. Last year, the November sale had a catalog of 5,026 horses.

The sale will include stock from the dispersal of the Sangster family's Swettenham Stud and major reductions from the Mabee family's Golden Eagle Farm and Frank Stronach's Adena Springs. Catalogs will be available online Monday.

Last year at the November sale, Keeneland sold 3,147 horses for gross proceeds of $313.8 million.
