Keeneland catalogs 4,194 horses for September yearling sale

As the yearling sales market rolled through Saratoga, Keeneland announced this week that it has cataloged 4,194 horses for its September yearling sale.

The sale will be held over a total of 12 sessions, from Sept. 11 through Sept. 23. For the third consecutive year, the format of the sale will remain the same, which has been cited as a key factor in market stability for the sale. The sale posted record gross, average, and median figures in 2022.

The sale will begin with Books 1 and 2, each comprising two sessions, before its traditional “dark day’ on Sept. 15. This schedule enables major buyers to judge a large number of exceptional horses on the grounds. The sale will then continue with Books 3 through 6, each two sessions, with no days off.
