Keeneland breaks last year's sales record

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The Keeneland September Sale, which ends Monday, already has set a world record for gross sales.

Helped by a record 5,161-yearling catalog, the company had sold 2,601 yearlings for $385,707,000 through Thursday, the 10th of 14 sessions. That figure topped last year's record for the entire sale, when 2,640 lot sold for $384,349,900.
