Kantex passes two-turn test in Natural State

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Kantex improved her Oaklawn Park record to 6 for 8 on Friday, when she rallied from off the pace to win the $150,000 Natural State Breeders’ Stakes by two lengths over Bennykayandsuzytoo. It was another 2 3/4 lengths back in third to Sulwe.
The Natural State was a one-mile race for fillies and mares bred in Arkansas. It ended at the sixteenth pole.
Kantex ($3.80) stalked the pace in fifth on a track upgraded to fast, as Bennykayandsuzytoo set fractions of 22.72 for the opening quarter, 46.35 for the half-mile, and 1:11.97 for six furlongs. Kantex advanced on the final turn, went after the leader in the stretch, and covered the distance in 1:39.07.
Rafael Bejarano was aboard for trainer Randy Morse.
Morse also co-bred and owns Kantex with Randy Patterson. She is a daughter of Street Strategy, who was named the Arkansas Thoroughbred Breeders and Horsemen’s Association stallion of the year for 2023. Street Strategy is owned by Patterson.
Kantex was winning around two turns for the first time. She is now 6 for 11 for earnings of $435,585.
