Kalatiara heads to breeding shed

Kalatiara, the Australian mare who won the Grade 3 Royal Heroine Handicap at Hollywood Park in 2001, has been retired and sent to the Stonerside Farm of owners Robert and Janice McNair in Paris, Ky., according to John Adger, the racing manager for the McNairs. Kalatiara, who was trained in this country by Ron McAnally, last raced in the Lady Morvich Handicap at the Bay Meadows fair on Aug. 17.
