Juveniles spotlighted in Lost in the Fog, Arizona Juvenile Fillies
PHOENIX – The top juveniles of both sexes at Turf Paradise will be on the display Saturday in the $30,000 Lost in the Fog and $30,000 Arizona Juvenile Fillies. Both races are at 6 1/2-half furlongs. The Lost in the Fog (race 7) drew a field of nine, headed by New Mexico stakes winner Oil Money, sharp local juvenile Senor Friday, and recent local stakes winner Keyson. The Arizona Juvenile Fillies (race 2) has a field of six, led by top local juvenile filly Senoradiablo, Twirling Devon, and Magdalena‘s Moment.
Oil Money hinted at talent at Canterbury Downs this summer, finishing second and sixth in his first two starts. But he put it all together when he came here, blasting maidens by 7 1/2 lengths on Oct. 15. In the Zia Park Juvenile on Nov. 21, he dueled for the lead early, opened up, and won comfortably by 3 1/2 lengths.
Oil Money, by J P’s Gusto, is owned by Charles Garvey and trained by Robertino Diodoro. David Lopez rides.

Senor Friday, a gelded son of two-time Horse of the Year Curlin, gives owner Garvey and trainer Diodoro a strong hand in the Lost in the Fog. After running seventh at Saratoga July 30 in his debut, he came here and easily beat maidens on Oct. 29, then whipped allowance rivals here Dec. 5. Francisco Arrieta rides.
Keyson showed talent in Southern California, winning a maiden race at Los Alamitos in July before dueling and tiring to fifth in a route at Santa Anita Oct. 26. He came here for the Dec. 8 Arizona Breeders’ Futurity and won that sprint easily. Denny Velazquez has a return call on Keyson, a gelded son of Salute the Sarge owned the Triple AAA Ranch and trained by Scott Rollins.
Senoradiablo on a roll
Senoradiablo, a daughter of Flat Out, looms the one to beat in the Arizona Juvenile Fillies. Owned by Tim Bankers and trained by Manuel Ortiz, she comes here off three straight wins, all over this track, including a win as the 6-5 favorite in an allowance race last time out Nov. 27. In fact, she’s won 4 of 5 here, and ran second against males in the lone loss. Velazquez was up for those last three wins and keeps the call.
Twirling Devon, also owned by Bankers and trained by Ortiz, ran second in the Barbara Shinpoch at Emerald Aug. 12 (Senoradiablo was fourth), and was second against males here Nov. 12. She then ran on well for third Nov. 27 behind Senoradiablo, beaten 1 3/4 lengths. Sahin Civaci rides.
Magdalena’s Magic, owned by Linda Eidal and trained by Pedro Hernandez-Sandoval, steps up off three promising outings. She ran second at Albuquerque Sept. 9 in her debut, then beat maidens at Zia Park Oct 1. She led all the way in an allowance here Dec. 17 under Israel Hernandez, who stays aboard.
