Juveniles arrive at Aqueduct

David Grening|Apr 16, 2018

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – The first races for 2-year-olds on this circuit will be this week, and both – worth $100,000 – drew decent-sized fields.

On Wednesday, a 4 1/2-furlong race drew nine juvenile fillies, including coupled entries from the barns of Todd Pletcher and Gary Contessa.

Both Pletcher runners – Disclude and Ma Meatloaf – are homebreds belonging to Mike Repole. Disclude is by Overanalyze and is a half-sister to Lost Raven, a debut winner for maiden $50,000 claiming who won a Grade 3 stakes. The family also includes graded winners Lewis Bay and Winslow Homer. Ma Meatloaf is by Stay Thirsty, out of the 12-time winner Poovey.

Trainer Wesley Ward has the uncoupled entry of Midnight Sway and Brittas Bay. Brittas Bay is by Scat Daddy out of the graded winner Nonsuch Bay, who won her debut, albeit at age 3.

Thursday’s 4 1/2-furlong race for males drew a field of eight, including two more from the Pletcher-Repole team and two from Wesley Ward.

The Ward pair of Echos of Laughter and What the Luck both show extensive work tabs at Turfway Park.
