A colt by Triple Crown winner Justify ranks among the top yearlings that will be on offer Monday during the annual Texas summer yearling sale at Lone Star Park near Dallas.
A total of 228 horses have been cataloged to the sale put on by the Texas Thoroughbred Association. The auction begins at 10 a.m. Central. It will be held in the sales pavilion right inside the stable area at Lone Star.
The Justify colt is an unnamed January foal who sells as Hip No. 143. He is out of Iroquois Girl, a stakes-placed winner and half-sister to Grade 3 winner Salty Strike. The Justify colt was bred in Florida.
He is Breeders’ Cup eligible and also is eligible for the Texas Thoroughbred Association Futurity, which is held each summer at Lone Star. He is being consigned by agent K P Sales.
The Justify colt also is eligible for the new $100,000 Texas Thoroughbred Association Derby, which will have its inaugural running next year at Sam Houston Race Park, according to a press release from the TTA.
