Just as Well, a Grade 3 winner and multiple Grade 1-placed runner, has been sold for stud duty in South Africa.South Africa’s Sporting Post has reported that a group of KwaZulu-Natal Thoroughbred breeders has purchased the A. P. Indy 8-year-old from trainer Jonathan Sheppard. Plans call for Just as Well to enter stud at Bruce le Roux’s Spring Valley Stud this year. Agent Alistair Brown brokered the deal.Just as Well is out of Grade 1 winner No Matter What, by Nureyev, a half-sister to Grade 2 winner E Dubai. He is a half-brother to European champion filly Rainbow View and to dual Grade 3 winner Winter View.Just as Well won the 2009 Arlington Handicap and placed in seven other graded stakes during his 27-race, four-season career. He finished second in the 2009 Arlington Million Stakes, Northern Dancer Turf Stakes, and Gulfstream Park Handicap and was third in the Maker’s Mark Mile Stakes, all Grade 1 contests. He retires to stud with a record of 4 wins, 8 seconds, and 3 thirds and earnings of $859,582.
