Jungle Juice tries to repeat success off quick return
RACE REPLAY IS NOT AVAILABLE
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Trainer Anna Meah is hoping recent history repeats itself Thursday evening when Jungle Juice returns on just four days’ rest in the highlight of an eight-race twilight card.
At the end of the spring meet in June, Meah wheeled Jungle Juice back just five days after the 5-year-old Irish-bred mare finished sixth behind Bell’s the One and Sconsin in the Roxelana. She won that June 24 race at 11-1.
Thursday, after running a creditable fourth behind Sconsin and Bell’s the One in the Open Mind on Saturday, Jungle Juice will have Alex Achard aboard when she faces eight other fillies and mares under the lights in the Thursday feature, a $134,000, second-level allowance at six furlongs.
“It’s an identical scenario to her last win,” Meah said. “She came out of the Open Mind in perfect shape. She never disappoints and always gives her absolute best. We hope to get the job done again, but regardless of the result, I trust it’ll be her best effort.”
Perfect Happiness and Reagan’s Edge are among the main foes for Jungle Juice in the only allowance on a card that begins at 5 p.m. Eastern. Clear skies and a high of just 66 are in the local forecast prior to sundown.
