Oaklawn Park

Joy Boy may be difficult to catch in allowance feature

Mary Rampellini|Jan 23, 2015

Joy Boy, a winner of two of his last three outs, will start as one of the top contenders in Sunday’s eighth race at Oaklawn Park, a third-level optional $62,500 claiming race at a mile. The field of eight includes Stachys, Donoharm, and Agent Di Nozzo.

Joy Boy ran one of the best races of his career in September, when he won an optional $50,000 claimer at Indiana Grand. He wired the field for a seven-length win, earning a Beyer Figure of 101.

Joy Boy appears to be the controlling speed in Sunday’s race. Ramon Vazquez has the mount for TK Stables and trainer Kellyn Gorder.
