John J. Reilly, Boiling Springs kick off Saturday stakes action

The $60,000 John J. Reilly Handicap, a six-furlong sprint for New Jersey-breds, and the $75,000 Boiling Springs, a 1 1/16-mile turf race for 3-year-old fillies, lead off four consecutive stakes at Monmouth Park on Saturday.
The Boiling Springs has a field of 10, plus one main-track-only entrant, who will likely be scratched.
Although the field is well matched, the New York shippers Reversethedecision and So Hi Society, who race for Chad Brown, and Golden Orb, who is trained by Christophe Clement, may hold a slight edge.
Golden Orb is coming off a freshening. She finished third, beaten a half-length, then was disqualified to fourth for drifting outward in the Wait a While Stakes at Gulfstream Park in December. She returned a month later but lacked her usual late kick and finished an even sixth in the Ginger Brew at Gulfstream.
“She has had a nice break in Ocala,” Clement said. “She seems fit, she is sound, doing well.”
Joel Rosario, who will ride Frostmourne for Clement in the featured Grade 2 Monmouth Stakes, has the mount.
Brown had Reversethedecision entered in a first-level allowance at Belmont Park on Thursday – she was the even-money morning-line favorite – but scratched her in favor of this spot.
Reversethedecision, a daughter of Scat Daddy, is coming off a 1 3/4-length maiden win at Aqueduct. The 83 Beyer Speed Figure she earned is the highest in this field.
Jose Ortiz, who rides Projected in the Monmouth Stakes for Brown, will be aboard.
So Hi Society is coming off a neck victory over yielding ground in a first-level allowance at Aqueduct for Brown. Joe Bravo has the mount.
In the Reilly Handicap, Chublicious will carry 126 pounds and give from five to 10 pounds to his six rivals.
Chublicious has won the Reilly the last two years for trainer Jorge Navarro, but is now owned by Brittlyn Stable and trained by Ron Faucheux.
The 7-year-old made two starts at Fair Grounds last winter after being acquired by Brittlyn, finishing second in both the Duncan Kenner and Thanksgiving Day Handicap. He had a work at Belmont Park last Friday after shipping north from Louisiana.
The Reilly will be his first start in four months.
