John D. Schapiro Memorial preview

John D. Schapiro Memorial Breeders' Cup Handicap
1 1/8 Miles (Turf)

In 2006, FISHY ADVICE has transformed himself from a gangly boy into a powerful man. The massive colt paired up Beyer tops in his last two races, and shows a bullet work in preparation for this start. He draws a cozy inside post position, and may attempt the same gate-to-wire tactics that he utilized in taking the Caesar Rodney at Delaware last time out. Fishy Advice was allowed to lope on an easy lead that day, but there doesn't appear to be much pace in the Schapiro, and he should be prominent when the real running begins.
DREADNAUGHT fits on Beyers, and he should run well in the second start of the form cycle. He improved his Beyer by five and 15 points respectively the last two times he went second off the layoff, but he failed to get the job done despite a perfect trip in the Bernard Baruch last time out. He needs to get tougher in the lane.
ASHKAL WAY is certainly the horse to beat after his Baruch score, and he hasn't finished out of the exacta in North America. He was very rank in the early stages last time out, and may need to relax better in order to repeat. He won't offer much value.
FOUFA'S WARRIOR hits hard, but he hasn't won a race since August 21, 2004, and he may not get enough pace to adequately setup his closing kick. He failed as the chalk against weaker last time out, and may be best used on the bottom of exotic wagers.
GIANT WRECKER parlayed a beautiful trip into an ugly victory last time. He changed back to his wrong lead, and was under an all out drive in the stretch despite sitting off a pace duel for the majority of the race. He'll get a stern class test here.

Selections:
1. Fishy Advice
2. Dreadnaught
3. Ashkal Way
