John Brown, once of <em>DRF</em>, dead

John W. Brown, a longtime chart-caller and correspondent for Daily Racing Form, died Thursday morning of congestive heart failure at age 73.

Brown, a graduate of Ohio State University, began working for Daily Racing Form at the Chicago-area tracks in 1960 and remained on that circuit until his retirement in 1996. He was a resident of Woodstock, Ill.

Brown is survived by his wife, Patricia; a son, Mike, a daughter, Lisa; and four grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by the Glueckert Funeral Home in Arlington Heights, Ill. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday with the funeral immediately following. Burial will be at Memory Gardens in Arlington Heights.
