Joe Appelbaum, the president of the New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association, has been re-elected to a second term, the association announced on Tuesday, along with the election results for its board of directors. Appelbaum was first elected in late 2017, taking the post held by the longtime president, the late Rick Violette, who retired from the position while dealing with late-stage cancer. Click to learn more. Three incumbent owners were re-elected to the board: Tina Bond, Rob Masiello, and Aron Yagoda. Two new owner representatives, Daniel Collins and Jonathan Green, were elected to fill out the remaining two seats. Among trainers, incumbents Leah Gyarmati, John Kimmel, Linda Rice, and Richard Schosberg were elected. Pat Kelly, who was an alternate to the board during the previous term, will be the fifth trainer representative.
