Jockey Thornton has seven-win day at Delta Downs

Jockey Timothy Thornton won seven races on the Saturday card at Delta Downs, including the featured $100,000 Louisiana Legacy with 1-5 favorite Unified Report.
The race was restricted to 2-year-olds bred in Louisiana.
Thornton had nine mounts on the card. Delta announcer Don Stevens said the rider’s seven-win afternoon is believed to be a record for Delta during the Boyd Gaming era of ownership of the track, which the company purchased in 2001. Jockey Ashley Broussard previously won six races on a card at Delta.
It was a career milestone for Thornton. The rider picked up his sixth of the seven wins in the Legacy, when he guided Unified Report to a 2 1/4-length win over Family Creed.
Thornton came back one race later and captured the ninth with Interactif Moment. It was one of four winners on the card for trainer Karl Broberg, all ridden by Thornton.
Dallas Stewart trains Unified Report, who stalked in third along the rail as Drewmazing set fractions of 23.53 seconds for the opening quarter and 49.15 for the half-mile. Unified Report and Family Creed both moved to the fore into the final turn of the seven-furlong race and battled in the stretch before Unified Report shook his rival and went on to cover the two-turn distance in 1:28.81
The track was fast.
Unified Report ($2.40) is now 2 for 2 after winning his debut in a maiden special weight at Churchill Downs. He is a son of Unified and the mare Closing Report, who is a past stakes winner at Delta. Unified Report races for Valene Farms.
Stewart said earlier this week that Unified Report is a candidate for the Louisiana Champions Day card in December at Fair Grounds.
Thornton on Saturday won the first race with Relax Town ($2.80); the second with Blue Darter ($6); the third with Dreaming of Neany ($8.60); the fifth with Laughing Latinos ($14); the sixth with Shackleford Strong ($4.20); the eighth with Unified Report and the ninth with Interactif Moment ($9.60).
