Jockey Silvio Amador suspended 10 days for alcohol violation
Northern California-based jockey Silvio Amador is in the midst of a 10-day suspension for being under the influence of alcohol earlier this year, according to a ruling published Feb. 18 by Golden Gate stewards.
The suspension began Monday and covers 10 calendar days through March 6.
In the ruling, Amador has been ordered to undergo regular testing for alcohol conducted by the California Horse Racing Board and “refrain from any alcohol-related violations” through the duration of his current license which expires in September 2025.
The ruling was issued by stewards Richard Lewis, Dennis Nevin, and George Yniguez.

Amador was cited for a similar infraction of being under the influence in the Golden Gate stable area in December 2022. For that incident, Amador was later fined $750 and ordered to participate in a testing agreement with the racing board.
Amador rode as recently as Sunday. He has won 634 races in a career that began in 2009, including 10 races at Golden Gate Fields this year. Amador rode two stakes winners last year at Emerald Downs.
