Jockey Sanchez has hot hand at Parx
Jockey Mychel Sanchez is off to an amazing start at Parx Racing this year. He won three races at the Bensalem, Pa., track Tuesday, four on Monday, and leads the rider standings by 11.
Sanchez, a 22-year-old native of Venezuela, has been riding in the United States since 2013. He finished a clear second in the Parx standings to Frankie Pennington the last two years. In 2019, Sanchez is 26 for 83 (31 percent), including 12 for 26 (46 percent) over the past two weeks.
Sanchez has won 502 races in the United States and has purse earnings of almost $16.3 million. He has won 422 races at Parx and 56 at Penn National.
Sanchez has four career stakes wins, including the Grade 3 Victory Ride at Belmont Park on Dixie Serenade last July and the $200,000 Fabulous Strike at Penn National in November on Midtowncharlybrown. Eddie Coletti Jr. trains both horses.
