Jockey Rendon sweeps pair of stakes on way three-win day

Jockey Jairo Rendon scored a natural hat trick with wins in the last three races on Saturday at Gulfstream Park.
Two of the wins were in stakes, and both horses, Vow to Recover and Vow Me Now, were sired by Broken Vow.
The streak began when he got through along the rail on his way to winning the $75,000 Honey Ryder Stakes for 3-year-old fillies with Vow to Recover. The Florida-bred daughter finished 2 3/4 lengths in front of Scat Mommy in the 1 1/16-mile race on turf. Indicia came from last to finish third in the 12-horse field.
The final time over the firm course was 1:44.53.
Vow to Recover paid $16.40. She is trained by Elizabeth Dobles and races for Imaginary Stables and Rodolfo Garcia.
In the last race, Vow Me Now was game winning the $75,000 English Channel for 3-year-olds. He stalked the pace, made the lead in midstretch, and after getting passed by Art G is Back, he fought back to win the 1 1/16-mile race on turf by a nose. Art G is Back finished 2 3/4 lengths clear of Stirling Drive who forced the pace.
Vow Me Now, trained by Edward Plesa Jr., paid $15.
The Kentucky-bred colt races for David Melin, Leon Ellman, and Laurie Plesa.
He posted a final time of 1:44.22.
