SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Jockey Jose Lezcano is expected to be out six to eight weeks with a broken collarbone suffered in a spill at Saratoga on Friday. Lezcano underwent surgery in which he had a plate put in to stabilize the injury, according to his agent P.J. Campo. Lezcano was aboard Catchy, who finished third in Friday’s second race, a maiden event for 2-year-old fillies. Catchy fell a few jumps past the wire, unseating Lezcano, who hit the ground hard. Catchy suffered a catastrophic injury to her left front leg and was euthanized on track. Lezcano was tied for 12th in the Saratoga standings with nine wins from 120 mounts. One of his wins came aboard Daisy Flyer in the Grade 3 Lake George Stakes, Lezcano’s first graded win of 2025. Three horses that Lezcano was named to ride Saturday at Saratoga won, including longshot Praying in the Grade 3 Prioress. That filly was ridden by Eric Cancel. For the year, Lezcano has ridden 99 winners from 637 mounts and his mounts have earned $6, 817,021. He was the second-leading rider at Aqueduct’s winter meet with 56 wins and he was tied for fourth at the Belmont at the Big A spring meet with 22 wins. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
