SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Jockey Katie Davis was taken to a hospital on Thursday afternoon after an incident in the starting gate prior to the fourth race at Saratoga. Davis’s mount, Bernieandtherose, became upset in the gate and was eventually scratched. Davis was taken from the track in a stretcher and transported to Albany Medical Center, according to New York Racing Association officials. The incident led to a 10-minute delay to the fourth race, which was won by Directive. There was concern that Davis had sustained a possible concussion, according to her agent, Mike Monroe. She was undergoing tests late Thursday afternoon, he said. Davis, 34, has won six races from 84 mounts this year. She won 41 races last year with mounts that earned a career-best $2,907,266. :: DRF Belmont Stakes Packages: Save big on PPs, Clocker Reports, Betting Strategies, and more.
