Jockey Club Round Table Conference scheduled for Aug. 3 in Saratoga Springs
The Jockey Club Round Table Conference on Matters Pertaining to Racing will be held for the first time on a Thursday this year, rather than its traditional Sunday date, the organization announced Monday.
This year’s Round Table will be held on Thursday, Aug. 3, approximately 10 days earlier than normal. Since its inception in 1953, the conference, which serves as a platform for The Jockey Club to announce its initiatives and indicate its support for certain industry efforts, has been held on a Sunday. It has been held in Saratoga Springs since 1954.
Shannon Luce, a spokeswoman for The Jockey Club, said that the organization decided to move the event to a Thursday to encourage participation during a time when many of its members are expected to be in Saratoga in advance of the Whitney Stakes on Saturday, Aug. 5, and the boutique Saratoga yearling sale at Fasig-Tipton on Aug. 7-8.
“A lot of our members will be in town,” Luce said. “We just thought it might be easier for everyone to have it on a Thursday, on that date.”
The conference begins at 10 a.m., and it typically wraps up by 12:15 p.m. It will be live-streamed on The Jockey Club website and its Facebook page.
