Jockey Club Round Table to be held as virtual event
The Jockey Club Round Table conference is now officially a virtual event.
On Tuesday, The Jockey Club announced that the annual conference will be streamed live on the organization’s website on Sunday, Aug. 16, rather than held at its usual location, the Gideon-Putnam Hotel in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. The event also will be simulcast on TVG, The Jockey Club said.
Shannon Luce, a spokeswoman for the organization, said that speakers will appear on the feed from remote locations. An agenda for the Round Table has not yet been finalized, Luce said.
The Round Table conference serves as an annual update on the activities of The Jockey Club, one of the most influential organizations in racing, as well as signals the efforts that The Jockey Club will support in the future.
This year, Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs is holding live racing but without any fans due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A number of events typically held in conjunction with the live meet have already been canceled, including the Hall of Fame ceremony and the The Jockey Club dinner on the night preceding the Round Table.
