Jockey charged with assault

DRF Staff|Oct 21, 2009

Rickey Walcott, the leading rider at the recently concluded Northlands Park meet, has been charged with aggravated assault, according to an article in the Edmonton, Alberta, Journal. Walcott reportedly was at a party at a local hotel when the assault occurred on Oct. 13, the day after the Northlands meet ended.

Walcott, 28, is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 12. He also has a court date on March 19, 2010, to answer to drug possession and impaired driving charges that were brought against him in June.

Walcott was by far the leading rider at Northlands with 155 wins, 63 more than the runner-up, Quincy Welch.
