Jockey Bravo misses Sunday mount after Saturday spill

Joe Bravo missed his lone mount at Santa Anita on Sunday after he was unseated from Decorated My Life in Saturday’s $102,500 Sweet Life Stakes.
Bravo was hospitalized late Saturday afternoon and released in the evening after undergoing tests, according to his agent, Matt Nakatani.
“He was a little sore from yesterday,” Nakatani said on Sunday morning. “We didn’t want to push it too much.”
Bravo had Decorated My Life racing behind the leaders when the field crossed from the hillside turf course to the main turf oval in the Sweet Life Stakes at about 6 1/2 furlongs. Bravo was unseated from Decorated My Life when the 3-year-old filly sustained a fatal leg injury.
Bravo won the two races preceding the Sweet Life Stakes, including an allowance race for sprinters on the promising 5-year-old Spirit of Makena. Through Saturday, Bravo, 51, had won eight races at the current winter-spring meeting, ranking ninth in the standings behind clear leader Juan Hernandez, who had 34 wins.
