Jockey John Bisono broke five ribs and sustained other internal injuries at Parx Racing on Monday when he was unseated during the race 3 gallop-out after finishing second aboard In Equality. Bisono, 46, is hospitalized at Aria-Jefferson Health Torresdale in Philadelphia with broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and a bruised kidney. His agent, Jim Boulmetis, estimates he will miss two to three months. According to Boulemtis, In Equality was "sideswiped" while pulling up after the race and "ducked out." Bisono "was thrown, landing on his back." A native of Queens, N.Y., Bisono has ridden more than 1,000 winners in the United States and has another 1,000 wins in Puerto Rico. He recently returned to his longtime base of Parx after riding at the current Oaklawn Park meeting. In 2018, he spent the summer at Prairie Meadows in Altoona, Iowa, where he won 31 races, and then moved on to Oklahoma City for the Remington Park fall meet, where he had 12 wins. In Equality was his fourth mount since returning to Parx, where he has 834 wins.
