Jls Mr Bigtime flashed his speed back in August, when he set the fastest qualifying time for the All American Futurity for Quarter Horses at Ruidoso Downs. He was at it again Saturday night at Evangeline Downs, when he broke his own track record in the $526,593 Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association Breeders’ Futurity. Jls Mr Bigtime ($2.40) won the 400-yard race in 19.41 seconds, two weeks after winning his trial in 19.58. “He’s too fast to be a racehorse, he’s more like a racecar,” said winning rider Jarrod Deschamp, who was aboard Jls Mr Bigtime for both the trial and finale at Evangeline. The LQHBA, which is a restricted Grade 1, was the richest race run this year at Evangeline. Jls Mr Bigtime was in control of the LQHBA soon after the start, and won off by 1 3/4 lengths over Corona Toast. “I never moved a muscle on him,” Deschamp said. “He broke on top and just dragged me the whole way.” The win was the first in a stakes for Jls Mr Bigtime, who was beaten a nose as the favorite in the All American Futurity in September. Darrel Soileau trains the horse for his father, John Soileau. Jls Mr Bigtime earned $216,833 for the win, which was his sixth in nine career starts. He had won races at Louisiana Downs and Delta Downs earlier this year before traveling to New Mexico for the All American.
