Six time trial winners ran quick enough on May 3 to qualify for Sunday’s $279,200 Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity at Los Alamitos.

The filly Jet Wings One was the most impressive of that group, zooming 350 yards in 17.51 seconds to prevail by 1 3/4 lengths for her second win in as many starts.

“She is turning into a little professional,” trainer Monty Arrossa told Los Alamitos publicity on trial night. “She has great disposition and likes to run.”

Jet Wings One, owned and bred by Dan and Connie Moon of Idaho, had the second-fastest time from the trials and figures to be very well-supported on Sunday.

The Kindergarten is the last of nine races on a program that begins at 8 p.m. Eastern, or 5 p.m. Pacific. Wagering is available through DRFBets.com.

The runners with the 10 fastest times in the trials, regardless of finishing positions, earned berths in the Kindergarten, the first futurity of the year in Southern California.

La Jaconde, a filly trained by Jaime Gomez, set the fastest qualifying time of 15.48 seconds, winning for the first time in her second start. La Jaconde was second to Jet Wings One in a maiden special weight race at 300 yards on April 17, losing by three-quarters of a length.

There is very little between those two fillies.

Gomez said La Jaconde “did not leave the gate” in her debut. “She should have won that race,” he said on trial night.

Gomez has won the Kindergarten seven times, and is tied on the all-time list with the late Blane Schvaneveldt. Gomez has three runners in Sunday’s race, including trial race winner PYC Powerglide (15.60) seconds and the highly regarded Jeanetics, a filly who was second by a half-length to La Reina Del Sur 1 in the trials.

Jeanetics, who cruised to a win in a maiden special weight race by 1 3/4 lengths at 300 yards on April 18, qualified for the Kindergarten with a time of 15.64 seconds. La Reina Del Sur 1 was timed in 15.55 seconds.

Jet Wings One and Unstoppable One are the only undefeated runners in the field. Both won maiden special weight races before the trials.

Unstoppable One, a colt trained by Hector Magallanes, won a division of the trials in 15.67 seconds.
