Jet Black Grace makes it 3-0 with Heritage Place Futurity
Jet Black Grace remained undefeated in three starts when he fought for a neck win over Political Rose in the Grade 1, $1.3 million Heritage Place Futurity on Saturday night at Remington Park.
The 350-yard feature for Quarter Horses was the richest race ever run in Oklahoma. It was showcased on a program of 12 races worth a track-record $2.7 million.
The card was meant to close out Remington’s meet for Quarter Horses, but the track announced it will put on one additional program Sunday after inclement weather forced the cancellation of Thursday’s card. First post will be 1:30 p.m. Central.
Jet Black Grace ($18) was always prominent and covered the distance on a fast track in 17.45 seconds. Juan Pulido was aboard for Zitro Racing Corp and trainer Fidencio Jimenez.
Jet Black Grace is a son of Jet Black Patriot. For his win in the Heritage Place he earned $552,292.
Danjer ($9), the champion who won the American Quarter Horse Association’s Challenge Championship last October at the Downs at Albuquerque, added the Grade 1, $320,000 Debbie Schauf Memorial to his resume Saturday night. He was a neck winner over favorite Apollitcal Pence. Danjer covered 440 yards on a track rated fast in 21.21 seconds.
