Jerkens works Preservationist, Green Light Go

ELMONT, N.Y. – On Tuesday, trainer Jimmy Jerkens sent out Preservationist and Green Light Go for significant, stamina-building workouts in preparation for their respective upcoming engagements.
Preservationist, the Grade 1 Woodward winner, went seven furlongs in 1:28.15 as he points to the Grade 1, $750,000 Jockey Club Gold Cup on Sept. 28. Preservationist began the work at the half-mile pole and came to the wire in 50.95 seconds. He picked it up once past the wire going his next quarter in 24.88 seconds. His final eighth of the move was 12.32 seconds.
“That’s a gallop for him,” Jerkens said. “Keep him in that frame of mind where he’s rateable. That’s the whole ticket – don’t let him get rank.”
Green Light Go, the Grade 2 Saratoga Special winner, worked six furlongs in 1:13.53 in preparation for the Grade 1, $500,000 Champagne on Oct. 5. Green Light Go, working outside of Somes Sound, went from the five-furlong pole to the wire in 59.84 seconds and was given his gallop out time for his official work.
“That was a little faster than I was looking for,” Jerkens said. “It’s okay though. It’s been a while since he ran and he’s got to run a mile so he needed something pretty good.”
Green Light Go was scratched from the Grade 1 Hopeful on Sept. 2 due to a sloppy track.
Alvarado to return Sept. 25
Junior Alvarado, who suffered an injured wrist in a spill here on Sept. 12, will return to race-riding on Sept. 25, his agent Mike Sellitto said Tuesday.
Alvarado was initially scheduled to miss only one week, but doctors advised him that another week would lessen the likelihood of aggravating the injury.
Alvarado is the regular rider of Preservationist and Green Light Go.
Bown pair in Noble Damsel
Trainer Chad Brown’s pair of Significant Form and Stella di Camelot head a field of six entered for Saturday’s Grade 3, $200,000 Nobel Damsel Stakes going a mile at Belmont Park.
Significant Form, a two-time stakes winner at Belmont, is coming off a neck victory in the Grade 2 Ballston Spa on Aug. 24 at Saratoga.
Stella di Camelot is seeking her first win since she took the Pebbles here last year as a 3-year-old.
Others entered include Valedictorian, Bellavais, Capla Temptress, and Betty F.
