Jeremiah Englehart snaps 0-for-58 drought at Saratoga
When Winter Games ($31) held off Goodnewsisnonews in Friday’s opener, it gave Jeremiah Englehart his first victory at Saratoga. He had previously gone winless with his first 58 starters.
“Yeah, we’re outta here. Going to pack the vans – we’re leading trainer,” Englehart said in the winner’s circle. “This is great. I’m really excited about this. The last two years, I thought, ‘Boy, we’re going to have a really good meet at Saratoga,’ and this year coming in, I was like, ‘Boy, I’m not as confident as I was the last two years.’ So, maybe I got to just think things aren’t going that well and we’ll run well.”
Prior to Winter Games winning that $25,000 claiming race, the highlight at Saratoga for Englehart was last year, when King Kreesa ran second to Wise Dan in the Grade 2 Fourstardave.
