Jean Elizabeth takes them all the way in Ontario Fashion Stakes

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – The favored Jean Elizabeth made another successful raid on Woodbine from her Chicago base on Saturday, winning the Grade 3 Ontario Fashion Stakes under Eurico Da Silva.
Jean Elizabeth ($5.50) was sharp leaving the paddock and went straight to the front in her usual style. Summer Sunday stalked in second until the top of the stretch, when Jean Elizabeth established a clear lead en route to a three-quarter-length score, in a time of 1:09.26 for the six furlongs.
Special Relativity rallied inside for second, and Heavenly Hill was along for third. Summer Sunday, Alnilah, and Sanity competed the order of finish.
Patrick Husbands rode Jean Elizabeth when she won the Sept. 21 Sweet Briar Too Stakes, but opted to retain the mount on Grade 3 Seaway winner Alnilah. Da Silva inherited the mount on the winner.
“She’s a runner,” Da Silva said. “She’s fast from the gate. She took the lead, and when we turned home, she gave another kick. It’s very hard for a horse to pass her. I asked Patrick, and he said she’s a very nice filly who will try hard for you. She definitely does that.”
A 4-year-old by Adios Charlie, Jean Elizabeth earned $75,000 of the $127,000 purse for a partnership that includes trainer Larry Rivelli.
