Jazzy Okie takes E.L. Gaylord Memorial

Jazzy Okie dueled early and drew clear late to win her second career stakes race in the $40,000 E.L. Gaylord Memorial at Remington Park in Oklahoma City on Saturday night. Brownie Points, who was 70-1, finished three and a quarter lengths back in second, while it was another neck back in third to Yaddo Cat.

Jazzy Okie ($4.60) pushed Yaddo Cat through an opening quarter in 21.99 seconds, then overtook that one through a half-mile in 44.68. Jazzy Okie went on to cover the six and a half furlongs for 2-year-old fillies in 1:16.46.

Jazzy Okie, who earlier this year won the Iowa Stallion Futurity, was the favorite in the Gaylord, and the 3-11 exacta with Brownie Points paid $255.20. Jazzy Okie has now won 3 of 5 starts and $94,900. She races for Richter Family Trust.
