Jaywalk “perfect” in first work back

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Jaywalk had her first recorded workout since she won the Nov. 2 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies when breezing an easy half-mile in 50.80 seconds Friday at the Palm Meadows training center.
“It was perfect,” trainer John Servis said afterward. “She galloped out super, so she didn’t lose much [fitness]. Everything went very good.”
Servis has targeted the March 2 Davona Dale as the comeback spot for Jaywalk, whose 4-for-5 record makes her the top contender for the Eclipse Award as top 2-year-old filly of 2018 when the annual awards dinner is held Jan. 24 at Gulfstream. Servis then intends to use a second prep for Jaywalk leading into the May 3 Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs.
Three years ago, Servis won the Oaks with Cathryn Sophia when using the Forward Gal, Davona Dale, and Ashland as preps.
