Jaxon Traveler, who has won his last four starts in a streak that includes a pair of stakes in New Mexico, is set to return to the Land of Enchantment for his next race, according to Midwest-based trainer Steve Asmussen.
Asmussen said Jaxon Traveler is being pointed for the $100,000 Bill Thomas Memorial on Feb. 16. Jaxon Traveler won the race last year. It is on the undercard of the Sunland Derby.
Overall, Jaxon Traveler has won four stakes in New Mexico, his latest the $75,000 Ft. Bliss on Jan. 17 at Sunland. He won by a neck after being hooked by Redline for much of the race. Redline is also on pace to return for the Bill Thomas Memorial, according to his trainer, Robertino Diodoro.
Jaxon Traveler is a multiple Grade 3 winner who has earned $1.1 million. He races for West Point Thoroughbreds.
◗ Innocence, who won the Borderplex on the same Sunland card as the Ft. Bliss, is a candidate for the $150,000 Dixie Belle on Feb. 15 at Oaklawn, said Asmussen.
