Aside from looks, the race record of the Japanese 2-year-old filly Sodashi merits attention. A rare white Thoroughbred, Sodashi is unbeaten in three starts, including two Grade 3 races in September and October. Sunday at Hanshin Racecourse, Sodashi will be favored to win her Grade 1 debut in the $1.2 million Hanshin Juvenile Fillies at a mile on turf. The race essentially serves as the championship race for the division, and has drawn a full field of 18. :: Want to get your Past Performances for free? Click to learn more. Sodashi, by Kurofune, is trained by Naosuke Sugai and will be ridden by Hayato Yoshida, who was aboard for the two stakes wins – the Nisai Stakes at 1 1/8 miles at Sapporo on Sept. 5 and the Artemis Stakes at a mile at Tokyo on Oct. 31. The undefeated Satono Reinas, who has had two starts, is rated as the most significant threat to Sodashi. Satono Reinas will make her graded stakes debut on Sunday, having won one-mile races in June and early October. Meikei Yell is also a two-time graded stakes winner, but was not helped by an outside draw in a large field on Sunday. Meikei Yell has won two Grade 3 races – the Kokura Nisai Stakes at six furlongs at Kokura Racecourse on Sept. 6 and the Grade 3 Fantasy Stakes at seven furlongs at Hanshin on Nov. 7. The field consists entirely of Japanese-bred runners. Post time is 1:40 a.m. Eastern, on Sunday, and 10:40 p.m. Pacific, on Saturday. Wagering is available through DRFBets.com.
