Japan: Daughter of War Emblem takes Hanshin Juvenile Fillies

Robe Tissage, a filly by Kentucky Derby winner War Emblem, won her first stakes in her third career start in Sunday’s $1.68 million Hanshin Juvenile Fillies, Japan’s top race for 2-year-old fillies.

Robe Tissage, ridden by Shinichiro Akiyama, broke from the inside and raced in the middle of the 18-filly field for the first part of the race over about a mile. Robe Tissage moved closer to the front in early stretch and caught leader Kurofune Surprise in the final sixteenth to win by a neck.

Run over a right-handed track at Hanshin Racecourse, Robe Tissage was timed in 1:34.20.

Red Cecilia, a maiden race winner making her stakes debut, finished third, one position in front of favored Collector Item.

Robe Tissage, who is owned by Silk Co., Ltd., has won 2 of 3 starts, beginning with a maiden race in July. She was second to Sound Rihanna in the Grade 3 Fantasy Stakes last month. Sound Rihanna was 17th in the Hanshin Juvenile Fillies.
