Jac's Fact scores in Governor's Buckeye Cup
Jac’s Fact ran down pacesetter Dubacious in deep stretch to earn his fourth stakes victory of the season in Saturday’s 67th running of the $75,000 Governor’s Buckeye Cup at ThistleDown.
Dubacious, stretching out from six furlongs to 1 1/4 miles, led by a length through the first three-quarters in 1:15 and maintained that advantage after a mile in 1:40.04. Dubacious stayed in front until the 4-year-old Jac’s Fact ($6.80), with Megan Fadlovich aboard, drew clear inside the sixteenth pole to score by 1 3/4 lengths.
Silver Tongued, the winner of this stakes restricted to Ohio-breds last year, rallied to edge Dubacious for second by a head. The winning time was 2:06.66.
Jac’s Fact, trained by Ivan Vazquez for Raymond Donald, is now 6 for 10 this season and 12 for 29 lifetime. His $45,000 share of the purse pushed his career bankroll to $403,526.
