Jac's Fact runs down Rivers Run Deep in Sydney Gendelman
Jac’s Fact made up a four-length deficit in the final furlong to overtake heavily favored Rivers Run Deep in Sunday’s $75,000 Sydney Gendelman Memorial Handicap for Ohio-breds at Belterra Park.
The 1 1/16-mile race was moved from turf to a fast main track.
The 4-year-old Jac’s Fact ($18.60), soundly beaten by Rivers Run Deep twice last year, came rolling in the stretch to blow past the favorite, winning by 1 3/4 lengths under Megan Fadlovich in 1:44.78.
It was the fifth stakes victory and third straight win this season for Jac’s Fact, trained by Ivan Vazquez for Raymond Donald.
Rivers Run Deep, who set fractions of 47.16 seconds and 1:12.52 while carrying top weight of 128 pounds, was clearly second best, 5 1/2 lengths clear of 18-1 longshot Rookie Gladden.
