Jackman wears down favored Connors Outlaw in Highland Ice Stakes
Jackman worked past pacesetter Connors Outlaw in the stretch for a length win Tuesday in the $50,000 Highland Ice Stakes at Will Rogers Downs in Claremore, Okla. It was another 1 3/4 lengths back in third to C W Prize.
The Highland Ice was a six-furlong race for 3-year-olds and up.
Jackman ($7) was winning his first stakes race Tuesday and also his sixth race in his last seven starts. He was content to sit just off 4-5 favorite Connors Outlaw through an opening quarter in 21.94 seconds and a half-mile in 44.69. Jackman went on to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:10.17.

Harry Hernandez was aboard for co-owner and trainer Greg Compton.
Compton’s partners in Jackman are Danny Brown and Charis Brenneman. They claimed the horse for $30,000 on Feb. 23 at Oaklawn Park and received permission from officials there to run the horse at Will Rogers.
A policy at Oaklawn - which is similar to a practice at other tracks - calls for runners claimed during the course of the meet to race only at Oaklawn through the close of the season May 5.
There are exceptions to such a policy, often times for a stakes race.
Jackman has now won 14 of 40 starts for career earnings of $490,706. He is a 6-year-old gelding by Munnings.
