Jackie's Warrior returns to work tab

Jackie’s Warrior, champion male sprinter of 2021, had his first timed workout as a 4-year-old, going an easy half-mile in 52.80 seconds on Sunday at Fair Grounds.
Jackie’s Warrior won the Pat Day Mile, the Amsterdam, the Allen Jerkens over Life Is Good, and the Gallant Bob before finishing sixth as the 1-2 favorite in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint. He subsequently underwent surgery to repair a chipped knee, and given that he already is back working, the procedure went smoothly.
Also back on the work tab is the Juddmonte homebred 5-year-old mare Bonny South, who posted her second breeze of the year, a half-mile in 49.20, on Sunday. Trained by Brad Cox, Bonny South is just short of $1 million in earnings. The mare has finished second in three Grade 1s but never won at the level, something connections surely will focus on addressing in 2022.
Another high-level Cox-trained dirt-route mare, Shedaresthedevil, is much farther along on her training. Shedaresthedevil, most recently a pace casualty when sixth in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff, worked six furlongs in 1:12.40 on Sunday and could make a race like the March 12 Azeri, the Oaklawn Park race where she launched her 2021 campaign.

The Cox-trained 4-year-old Fulsome, a multiple Grade 3 winner last year, has worked five times, including twice over five furlongs.
And finally, Masqueparade, who won the Ohio Derby and most recently finished sixth in the Travers on Aug. 28, had the first breeze of his comeback, going three furlongs in 38 seconds on Saturday for trainer Al Stall.
