Jack the Umpire has it all his way in Jean Lafitte Stakes

Jack the Umpire backed up a powerful allowance win with a stakes victory Saturday night in the $100,000 Jean Lafitte for 2-year-olds at Delta Downs. He wired the field for a 2 3/4-length win over Bold Thirst. It was another length back to Sir Rick in third.
The race was run at a mile.
Jack The Umpire ($5.60) was favored off an 8 1/4-length conditioned allowance win Oct. 30 at Delta. He broke well Saturday night, and took the field through an opening quarter in 23.22 seconds while pushed along by Sir Rick. Jack The Umpire continued to lead through a half-mile in 47.61, then started to separate from the field through six furlongs in 1:13.35. He went on to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:42.66.
Tommy Pompell was aboard for trainer Brett Brinkman.
Jack the Umpire, who is by Bodemeister, races for P. Dale Ladner. The horse was co-bred by Brinkman and Ladner. He is out of Sittin At the Bar, a nine-time stakes winner who earned $705,896. She was raced by Ladner and trained by Brinkman.
