Abram Himelstein|Jan 26, 2008

NEW ORLEANS - Jockey John Jacinto was thrown from his mount in Saturday's 10th race at Fair Grounds, sustaining an apparent shoulder injury when his mount broke down in midstretch.

Jacinto was aboard the first-time starter All Boy when he was thrown from his mount and under the rail just inside the sixteenth pole. He was taken from the track by stretcher and transported to Tulane Medical Center. He was expected to have X-rays of his shoulder.

Jacinto, 31, is a native of Peru, and has resided in the United States since 1999. Through racing on Saturday he was tied for fifth in the jockey standings at Fair Grounds with 30 wins.

All Boy was euthanized on the track.
