Ive Struck a Nerve, Awesome Bet to Peach Lane Farms in Louisiana

DRF Breeding Staff|Oct 09, 2014

Grade 2 winner Ive Struck a Nerve and stakes winner Awesome Bet will make their stallion debuts during the 2015 breeding season at Peach Lane Farms in Opelousas, La., each for an advertised fee of $1,500.

Ive Struck a Nerve is a 4-year-old son of Yankee Gentleman and won two of nine starts during his on-track career for earnings of $305,790. His biggest victory came in the Grade 2 Risen Star Stakes in 2013. However, an ankle injury forced him off the Kentucky Derby trail and that proved to be his final start. Ive Struck a Nerve also finished second in the Sugar Bowl Stakes at Fair Grounds as a juvenile. He was trained by Keith Desormeaux for owner Matthew Bryan.

Bred in Kentucky by Brereton Jones, Ive Struck a Nerve is out of the winning Cryptoclearance mare Ranaway, who is the dam of four winners from as many foals to race. He is from the family of Grade/Group 1 winners Ubique and K. J.’s Appeal, Grade 2 winner Slew Valley, and Grade 3 winners Explosive Bid, and La Soufriere.

Awesome Bet, a 6-year-old son of Awesome Again, has won four of 32 starts over five seasons of racing for earnings of $319,196. His most successful campaign came during his 3-year-old season, in which he won the Barbaro Stakes at Delaware Park and finished second in the Grade 2 Super Derby at Louisiana Downs.

Awesome Bet was bred in Kentucky by Phillips Racing Partnership and is out of the Grade 3-placed stakes-winning Kris S. mare Ellie’s Moment, whose five winners from as many foals to race also includes Grade 3-placed Moment in Dixie. His notable extended family includes Grade/Group 1 winners Brian’s Time, Bonny and Clyde, and Ocean Quest, as well as Grade/Group 3 winners Java Moon and Courir Passion.
