Ivan Fallunovalot targets Hot Springs

Ivan Fallunovalot, who has put up some of the best Beyer Speed Figures in 2015, is scheduled to make his next start in the $100,000 Hot Springs at Oaklawn on March 7, said trainer Tom Howard.
Ivan Fallunovalot has won both of his starts at the Oaklawn meet, taking an allowance with a 108 Beyer on Jan. 22 and then the $100,000 King Cotton with a 105 Beyer on Feb. 7. Both of those races came at six furlongs, the distance of the Hot Springs.
“That’s what we’re pointing to,” Howard said Friday.
Howard said Calvin Borel has the mount.
Gentlemen’s Bet, who was third in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint in 2013, is being considered for the Hot Springs, said trainer Ron Moquett. Gentlemen’s Bet made his first start since the 2013 BC Sprint last month and was third by a half-length after setting the pace in an allowance race at Oaklawn.
Unbridled’s Note, the runner-up in the BC Turf Sprint in 2012 and fourth in the race in 2013, ran second in the same allowance as Gentlemen’s Bet. Unbridled’s Note is possible for the Hot Springs, said trainer Steve Asmussen.
The Big Beast, another quality sprinter based at Oaklawn, is set to run in an allowance at the track Sunday. It will be his first start since taking the Grade 1 King’s Bishop at Saratoga.
Zee Bros, the winner of the $350,000 De Francis Memorial Dash at Laurel Park in November, is also based at Oaklawn. His long-range goal is a start in either the Grade 3 Commonwealth at Keeneland or the Count Fleet at Oaklawn, said trainer D. Wayne Lukas.
Bourbon Courage, a Tampa-based runner who was fourth in last year’s BC Sprint, could see action in the Count Fleet, trainer Kellyn Gorder said recently. Gorder has a division at Oaklawn.
