Itsinthepost to regroup at Santa Anita

DEL MAR, Calif. – Itsinthepost only beat one of his six rivals in the Del Mar Handicap on Saturday, but he came out of the race well and will be given a chance to rebound at Santa Anita, trainer Jeff Mullins said.
Itsinthepost has won 10 times in 40 starts, but is now 0 for 12 on the turf at Del Mar.
“He’s all right,” Mullins said. “I think the turf is a little too firm for him here.”
Prince Earl, Bowies Hero to City of Hope Mile
Trainer Phil D’Amato said Prince Earl, winner of the Del Mar Mile on Sunday, and Bowies Hero, a troubled fifth in the race, likely both will run in the City of Hope Mile on Oct. 5 at Santa Anita.
“I hate to run them both in the same race, but it really is the best spot for both of them,” D’Amato said.
D’Amato has hopes of running both in the Breeders’ Cup Mile on Nov. 2 at Santa Anita.
